David was only 10 months old when he and his family fled his hometown of Dergachi. His house was destroyed by Russian shelling in March 2022. Changing the city of residence was very difficult for the boy, he was constantly crying, afraid of people and loud noises. When he was one and a half years old, his parents began to notice that something was wrong with the child, and after an examination, doctors suspected an autism spectrum disorder.
The family moved to Kharkiv to have their child tested at the Kharkiv Genetic Center and consult with neurologists. David started attending correctional centers. According to the results of an MRI of the brain, David was diagnosed with hypoplasia of the corpus callosum, the consequences of hypoxic-ischemic genesis and severed speech tracts.
To help the family, the Foundation paid for a rehabilitation course for David.
Thanks to the daily rehabilitation sessions, David's interaction with adults other than his parents has improved, and his eye contact has improved. Thanks to the course of swimming pool, massage and physical therapy, his general health, sleep and appetite improved.
The specialists helped a lot in developing the child's understanding of the spoken language.
The classes at are an important support for children with autism and help them to get closer to better understanding and living more comfortably in the environment.
