The operation is over: Vadym will soon be walking again thanks to your donations!

The ‘Bonum Ukraine’ Charitable Foundation has funded the purchase of the ‘Hexapod’ device, which was required for Vadym’s surgery on both knees. This was made possible by donations from caring people who add 10 hryvnias to their receipt at the self-service checkouts in the ‘Velmart’ supermarket chain to support the foundation’s beneficiaries #Bonum. It is these funds that are helping children in need who are currently battling illness.

Vadym has Down’s syndrome and has had musculoskeletal problems since birth. Due to weakness in his muscles and connective tissues, his knee joints cannot bear the load properly. As a child, he only began to walk at the age of four, and later, due to the instability of his knees, he often fell. He had previously undergone operations to strengthen his joints.

As Vadym grew older and heavier, the strain on his legs increased. This led to pathological hyperextension of his knee joints, causing pain, rapid fatigue and an unsteady gait. Vadym required further surgery. But the family had no funds, so thanks to the help of caring people, the operation is now behind him. Ahead lies recovery and work to ensure that Vadym can stand, walk and move forward with greater confidence.
