The charity helped ensure that Vadym could carry on!

Vadym has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, specifically spastic tetraparesis.

Following a difficult birth, the boy was born showing no signs of life; he underwent resuscitation, mechanical ventilation, suffered seizures and was in a coma. The doctors gave the family little hope, but Vadym fought on and survived.

Since then, his life has consisted of constant rehabilitation, treatment and working on his own development. Recently, the boy underwent hip joint surgery, during which metal plates were fitted.

It is now particularly important for Vadym to be able to stand upright, as this allows him to remain safely in an upright position, strengthen his muscles and maintain the results of his treatment and rehabilitation.

That is why the ‘Bonum Ukraine’ Charitable Foundation has purchased a standing frame for Vadym.

This specialised equipment will enable Vadym to work on his physical condition every day, strengthen his muscles and continue his rehabilitation.

Vadym is in Year 8 and is being home-schooled. He is a bright, cheerful boy who loves to keep active and socialise. And, like every child, he needs opportunities, not pity.

Bonum runs a programme to help with the purchase of rehabilitation equipment, which is vital for children with severe conditions to develop their abilities and become more independent.
