Nikita’s extremely complex diagnosis and our help in giving him the chance to breathe!

Our ward, Nikita, was diagnosed with Grade IV scoliosis, spinal deformity and the first signs of changes to his internal organs. Due to the severe curvature of his spine, 13-year-old Nikita began to experience serious breathing difficulties. Even whilst sitting, he found it difficult to breathe, and his lungs were no longer able to function at full capacity.
The boy has had cerebral palsy since birth, along with spastic tetraparesis, severe motor impairments and a significant delay in psychomotor development. He cannot walk or speak, and now his condition also required urgent and complex surgery.
The doctors recommended surgical correction of his scoliosis.

The cost of the operation is very high, so #Bonum contributed towards the costs to ensure Nikita received timely treatment to stabilise his condition and make breathing easier.

It was an extremely complex operation and an incredibly important step for the child.
