Ilya is now 9 years old, but he has already experienced enough challenges for his age. He lost his home as a result of military operations, lost his friends, and has health problems. So now the Foundation is doing everything possible to ensure that the boy has a happy, healthy childhood and faith in the future!!!!
At the age of one year and nine months, Ilya was admitted to the intensive care unit with severe ketoacidosis and high blood sugar. After stabilizing his condition, doctors diagnosed him with severe type 1 insulin-dependent diabetes. Children with this diagnosis have to inject insulin several times a day for the rest of their lives. Last year, Bonum Ukraine Foundation helped Ilya to purchase sensors and Dash pods. Thanks to this help, the compensation of blood sugar level has significantly improved, there is no need to prick the fingers for tests so often, and the boy's life has become more comfortable.
However, unfortunately, Ilya's eyesight began to deteriorate rapidly, which is often the case with diabetes. His myopia began to progress. Currently, he has a refraction of -1.5 and -0.25, and doctors recommend the use of a night corrective lens - a modern, safe method that allows you to stop the deterioration of vision in children. This lens is worn only at night and provides clear vision during the day without glasses. Most importantly, it helps to prevent serious complications that can occur with a high degree of myl
This method is called orthokeratology or night vision correction. In children, especially those with diabetes, myopia (nearsightedness) can progress rapidly - vision deteriorates, and stronger glasses are needed to avoid this
The Foundation for Ilya purchased a lens and solution for it.
We hope that in this way we will save the boy's eyesight!
The donation amount is non-refundable, and the funds are distributed among the foundation's projects
